Formed in 1966, the Western Australia Police Pipe Band proudly serves the community of Western Australia. The band has always performed a dual role – while part of band officer’s time is spent performing and rehearsing, all ‘down time’ is effectively utilised in order to undertake various support roles throughout the Agency.
The band performs for many government and community organisations throughout WA in addition to it’s ceremonial duties within the Agency. The band runs a highly successful schools program, performing to over 40 Primary schools annually throughout the state; and also performs at many charity events, nursing homes, parades, festivals, sporting events, multicultural celebrations and exhibitions.
When undertaking the opportunity to travel interstate or overseas to attend larger competitions or to take part in such events as the Edinburgh Tattoo, all funds required for these endeavours are raised in band member’s own time. Attendance at such events is achieved at no cost to Government or WA Police as the provision of all required funds is facilitated by the bands Supporter’s Association.
