Originally from South Africa, Chris relocated with his family to Australia, and joined WAPOL in January 2012. In South Africa, he was Pipe Major of the Benoni Mac-Talla Pipe Band from its inception in 2000 until 2006, where the band achieved 5 consecutive South African Championship titles. He also instructed all other bands within the Benoni organisation, and was instrumental in a string of 20 consecutive South African Championship titles for the Benoni Juvenile Pipe Band from 1992, which also included a 2009 World Championship title for the Juvenile band in Grade 3B.
Chris has travelled extensively, being a member of the Victoria Police Pipe Band in 1998, and the Auckland and District Pipe Band from 1999 to 2002. He has taught and adjudicated across North America, and apart from numerous album releases, has seen a number of his compositions being played by pipe bands globally.
